K-12 Education

Educating young people and providing them with an optimistic, purpose-driven worldview is one of our highest priorities at Human Energy. We are actively developing new partnerships, initiatives, and projects for K-12 classes in public and private schools as well as for youth-serving organizations.

CURRENT PROJECTS

Science Education for an Interconnected World

Today's students are coming of age in a world shaped by powerful technologies, global crises, and unprecedented connectivity. These same forces are generating what Human Energy's research identifies as the techno-social dilemma: a measurable epidemic of anxiety, meaninglessness, and despair among young people who struggle to find purpose in an increasingly complex and interconnected world.

Science Education for an Interconnected World is a research-based curriculum project that connects the noosphere to U.S. K-12 education through the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). Noosphere-aligned curriculum helps students see themselves as active participants in a larger, evolving web of meaning, values, and responsibility, and to develop a grounded sense of agency about the future they are helping to create.

Led by education professors Emily DeMoor and Michelle Haj-Broussard, the project has completed two successive pilot cohorts (2024, 2025) with strong teacher reviews and ongoing refinement. We are now actively recruiting high school science teachers and partner schools for the 2026-27 cohort.

The Professional Learning Program

Teachers participate in a two-day professional development workshop led by experienced teacher-scholars with deep backgrounds in science, ecology, engineering, and curriculum development. Day one introduces Human Energy, the noosphere, and its six core elements through interactive activities. Day two connects those elements to three standards-aligned TeachEngineering activities and models classroom implementation. In the semester following the workshop, teachers integrate the lessons into their classes with ongoing mentoring and support from Human Energy.

Teachers also receive a curriculum map aligning Human Energy concepts with the NGSS, ready-to-use high school slide decks, and sample lessons exploring real-world issues—climate resilience, genetic engineering, and energy use—through a noospheric lens.

Partnership Opportunities

We welcome schools, districts, networks, and conferences interested in expanding this work across three formats:

Online National Cohort:  Two-day online workshop plus a follow-up semester of mentoring and support for classroom implementation.

On-Site Professional Development:  Two-day, in-person workshop at a host location, plus follow-up support. A cohort of approximately 40 teachers can reach around 800 students.

Conference-Style Virtual Training:  A concise online session embedded in an existing virtual conference, with potential for follow-up support. Suited to audiences of 10-50 teachers, planned at least one year in advance.
