As cities become increasingly shaped by data, digital infrastructure, and artificial intelligence, they are emerging as key spaces where humanity’s relationship with technology, nature, and one another is being navigated. This salon explores cities not simply as “smart” systems, optimized for efficiency, but as living social and ecological environments, dynamically related to the local places they inhabit.
What would it mean, we ask, for cities to become collectively intelligent and networked—shaped by broad participation, resilience, and environmental and planetary responsibility?
In contrast to top-down, technocratic smart-city models, this conversation explores how urban intelligence might move beyond efficiency toward coherence, contributing to a more conscious and flourishing planet. Panelists: Marina Alberti, Daniel T. O’Brien, Lylianna Allala, and Zach Silk.
